Message I painted my timing belt covers a few years ago myself using a small airbrush and actual Nissan TK3 Sapphire Blue paint. The results were good but the paint was pretty dark compared to the color on the car.

Before this round of shows, I decided to redo the covers. I got a spare set from Mal1ce and got to work. Since I have relocated the PTU behind the driver's side headlight I opted to shave off the four mounting points on the passenger timing cover. This was done by punching out the metal inserts then cutting off the plastic 'nubs'.

On a tip from my body shop guy I used a soldering iron and the plastic I just cut off to melt back into the holes that were created and fill them in. Then I used various grits of sandpaper to make everything smooth, no bondo or putty required ;-)

On the drivers side, I always hated the fins that are there, so I removed them as well using the same procedure. I also filled in the molding holes that are on both covers to make it more smooth.

Finally I dropped them off at my body shop and had them repainted (along with another throttle cover.) The end results are shown below:

Note in the final picture you can see the difference in the paint color between my hack job from a couple of years ago on the throttle cover and the new timing covers done by my body shop guy... definitely much better! The new cover isn't done yet but will be by Friday when the show starts.
